You can delete a cluster along with all the data stored in it. Note that data backups are not created automatically: if you want to save data for cluster recovery or future use, you can do that, for example, using Yandex Object Storage.

To delete a Yandex Data Processing cluster, the user must have the dataproc.editor role assigned. For more information, see the role description.

Disable deletion protection for the cluster if it is enabled.

Management console
CLI
Terraform
  1. Navigate to the folder dashboard and select Yandex Data Processing.
  2. Click for the cluster you need and select Delete.
  3. (Optional) Specify the decommissioning timeout.
  4. In the window that opens, click Delete.

If you do not have the Yandex Cloud CLI installed yet, install and initialize it.

By default, the CLI uses the folder specified when creating the profile. To change the default folder, use the yc config set folder-id <folder_ID> command. You can also set a different folder for any specific command using the --folder-name or --folder-id parameter.

To delete a cluster, run the command:

yc dataproc cluster delete <cluster_name_or_ID>

You can request the cluster ID and name with the list of clusters in the folder.

With Terraform, you can quickly create a cloud infrastructure in Yandex Cloud and manage it using configuration files. These files store the infrastructure description written in HashiCorp Configuration Language (HCL). If you change the configuration files, Terraform automatically detects which part of your configuration is already deployed, and what should be added or removed.

Terraform is distributed under the Business Source License. The Yandex Cloud provider for Terraform is distributed under the MPL-2.0 license.

For more information about the provider resources, see the relevant documentation on the Terraform website or its mirror.

If you do not have Terraform yet, install it and configure the Yandex Cloud provider.

To delete a cluster created using Terraform:

  1. In the command line, go to the folder that houses the current Terraform configuration file with an infrastructure plan.

  2. Delete the resources using this command:

    terraform destroy

    Alert

Terraform will delete all the resources you created using it, such as clusters, networks, subnets, and VMs.

  3. Type yes and press Enter.
