Terms and definitions in Yandex Cloud Postbox

AddressAddress

An address is the domain emails are sent from. To send emails from any mailbox on the domain, you need to get your domain ownership confirmed.

To send emails from subdomains, add them as separate addresses. Yandex Cloud Postbox checks whether the sender’s email domain matches that specified in the address. For example, with yourdomain.com as your confirmed ownership domain, you can email from noreply@yourdomain.com or admin@yourdomain.com but not from user@mail.yourdomain.com.

Dedicated IP addressDedicated IP address

A dedicated IP address is an IP address Yandex Cloud Postbox uses to send emails for a single customer cloud. The reputation of a dedicated IP address depends only on the user's traffic.

For more information, see Dedicated IP addresses.

ConfigurationConfiguration

A configuration is a group of rules you can apply to an outgoing email. A configuration may contain the following rules:

• Getting email operation notifications.
• Configuring mandatory TLS encryption.
• Collection of engagement statistics.

For more information, see Configuration.

SenderSender

A sender is a confirmed domain mailbox used to send emails. You can limit the list of allowed senders when creating or editing an address.

SubscriptionSubscription

A subscription is a destination for email operation notifications.

DKIM signatureDKIM signature

A DKIM signature is a digital signature added to email headers to verify that the message originated from the specified domain and was not tampered with in transit. Without a properly configured DKIM signature, most email services will reject emails from Yandex Cloud Postbox or flag them as spam.

Yandex Cloud Postbox supports Easy DKIM and the advanced DKIM settings. For more information, see DKIM.

Dedicated IP address poolDedicated IP address pool

A pool is a named group of dedicated IP addresses. If a pool is assigned to a configuration, all emails the configuration applies to are sent from the assigned pool's IP addresses.

For more information, see IP address pools.

Suppression listSuppression list

The suppression list is a list of addresses that Yandex Cloud Postbox blocks from receiving emails. Yandex Cloud Postbox uses two types of suppression lists:

• Custom suppression list created and managed by the user.
• Global suppression list managed by Yandex Cloud Postbox. The global suppression list applies to all Yandex Cloud Postbox addresses; it cannot be viewed or modified.

For more information, see Suppression lists.
