HyperMethod eLearning Server 5G

eLearning Server 5G is a new-generation domestic learning management system (LMS) included in the unified register of Russian programs.

The process of knowledge acquisition continues to undergo transformation. Replacing the old directive system of education is the concept of inclusivity and utilizing each individual’s capabilities for the development of all. The eLearning Server 5G tools enable the implementation of new educational paradigms. Hundreds of thousands of learners can simultaneously undergo training, structured in either a gaming or traditional format.

eLearning Server 5G is:

• An LMS for corporate universities, training centers and educational institutions. An LMS is capable of training tens of thousands of people.
• Gamification and tools for motivating learners: rankings, bonuses, battles and much more.
• Engaging and variable learning: course guidance, hints, and assignments.
• Individual development trajectories for each trainee, considering their potential and past experience.
• The creation of educational modules without unnecessary steps, logically, simply, and quickly: an educational task or test in 40 seconds, a survey in half a minute, a simple educational module — in no more than 7 minutes.
• Microlearning — each unit of micro-content is a concentration of value, with each unit lasting from 1 to 15 minutes.
• Intelligent recommendation services — they help navigate the diversity of educational content.
• Flexibility — upload your courses in the formats of e-learning standards: SCORM, TinCan, QTI. Download reports and educational modules as PDF presentations.

1. Create a service account with the marketplace.meteringAgent role. Save the service account identifier.
2. Get a pair of SSH keys to connect to the virtual machine (VM).
3. Create a VM from the public image:
   1. In the Image/boot disk selection section go to the Cloud Marketplace tab and select HyperMethod eLearning Server 5G.
   2. In the Disks and file storage section, specify the disk size based on:
      • 100 GB (image);
      • plus the volume of educational materials (videos, presentations, books, etc.).
   3. In the Computing resources section, specify:
      • CPU: 6 processor cores for every 100 concurrent connections;
      • RAM: 4 GB per processor core;
      • CPU share: at least 100 percent.
   4. For example: There are 200 employees in the organization. We will train up to 50 workers simultaneously. Educational materials occupy 50 GB:
      • CPU — 3 cores;
      • RAM — 12 GB;
      • Disk — 150 GB (100 GB image + 50 GB educational materials);
      • CPU share — 100%.
   5. In the Access section:
      • in the Service account field select the service account created earlier;
      • in the Login field enter the username;
      • in the SSH key field paste the file content with the public SSH key.
   6. Save the following parameters:
      • the VM’s public IP address;
      • VM identifier;
      • availability zone;
      • subnet identifier.
4. Install an SSL certificate:
   1. Connect to the VM via SSH, replace the files /home/user/els5/server.crt and /home/user/els5/server.key with the customer’s PEM format certificate and private key. The SSL certificate can be either purchased or generated using the letsencrypt.org service.
   2. Restart the VM or restart the web server service using the command sudo docker exec els5_web_1 apachectl graceful.
5. Go to https://<public_VM_IP_address> in your browser. Make sure the page is accessible.
6. To obtain the password connect to the VM via ssh and read the password from the file /first-login.txt
7. Log into the system. To do this, in the browser on the page https://<public IP address of the VM> enter:
   • login — admin
   • password — use the password obtained from the /first-login.txt file
8. Change the password.
9. If you’ve made mistakes with the settings, repeat the installation process.

On your first visit to https://support.hypermethod.ru/ you need to register an account. To do this fill out the “Submit a Registration Request” form. You will receive the details of your account in a response email.
