Fedora 43
An open-source server Linux distribution. Fedora is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and developed by Red Hat and the developer community.
The distribution software is updated in close cooperation with the major branches of the Linux kernel development. Most of these innovations are then added to Red Hat Enterprise Linux, so Fedora meets the requirements of businesses.
Fedora 43 offers the following key advantages:
- Linux kernel 6.17 — support for the latest hardware, improved performance, and expanded security capabilities
- RPM 6.0 with post-quantum cryptography — packages are verified by OpenPGP key fingerprint instead of short key IDs, with support for multiple signatures per package and OpenPGP v6 keys including post-quantum protection
- DNF 5 as installer backend — faster, more modular package management and accelerated dependency resolution
- Updated GNU Toolchain — GCC 15.2, Binutils 2.45, glibc 2.42, GDB 17.1
- Modern languages and compilers — LLVM 21, Golang 1.25, Python 3.14, Perl 5.42
- SELinux security system — advanced access control mechanisms to protect your system
- Containerization with Podman and Buildah — modern tools for working with containers without requiring a daemon
- Systemd and Firewalld — service management and flexible firewall configuration
