Deleting user data
When and how user data is deleted depends on the reason for deletion.
Automatic cloud suspension
Your cloud may be suspended due to arrears if your trial period is over or if you violate the Yandex Cloud
In a suspended cloud:
- Virtual machines and other resources are stopped, but the data is not deleted. Within 60 days (for violations of the Terms of Use — 7 days), the cloud can be unblocked, and resources can be relaunched.
- When this period ends, Yandex Cloud can mark the resources for deletion and permanently delete them along with the data they contain, within 72 hours.
In a suspended cloud, user data may be deleted.
Resource deletion timelines
Resource deletion timelines depend on reasons for deleting the resources and their type.
Note
When a contract is terminated, all user's clouds and resources are immediately marked for deletion and deleted within 72 hours.
Deleting a user’s suspended cloud
When a cloud is suspended due to your being in arrears or due to the end of the trial period, resources are deleted in the following order:
- Active VMs and other cloud resources are stopped, but the data is not deleted. Following that, you have 60 days to restore the cloud and resources.
- If the cloud is not restored within 60 days after suspension, resources from every service are marked for deletion and then deleted within 72 hours.
If a cloud is suspended due to your violation of the Yandex Cloud terms of use:
- Active VMs and other cloud resources are stopped, but the data is not deleted. Following that, you have 7 days to correct the violations and restore access to your resources.
- If the cloud is not restored within 7 days after suspension, Yandex Cloud may mark its resources for deletion and delete them within 72 hours.
Deleting clouds and folders on user request
When creating a request for deleting a cloud or folder, you can specify whether to delete the resource immediately or after a certain delay. The default deletion delay is seven days. Throughout this period, the resources will be stopped, and the cloud/folder status will change to PENDING_DELETION
.
Once the delay period ends, the cloud/folder status will change to DELETING
. This status means it is being permanently deleted, which can take up to 72 hours. As a result, all resources created in the cloud/folder will be deleted together with it.
Alert
While the cloud is PENDING_DELETION
, your disks, reserved IP addresses, and other data remain in storage. The storage cost is calculated at the previous rate. Track how much the resources cost you in Yandex Cloud Billing
Under certain circumstances, the system may interrupt the folder deletion.
Deleting logs of requests to resources
Records of API requests to user resources are stored for one year. They are used for analyzing information security incidents and preventing fraud.
Records are permanently deleted after 12 months.
Discontinuing a cloud
To stop using the platform, terminate the agreement, and delete your billing account:

Go to Yandex Cloud Billing

Select the billing account from the list.

If you have lost access to your account, contact support

In the top-right corner of the Account info page, click
and select Delete. -
Confirm and wait until the check is completed.

If the account can be deleted, the deletion notification will pop up. At this point, you can still abort the operation by clicking Cancel.

If the account cannot be deleted, click Detailed to see the reason.
The list of reasons includes, but is not limited to, the following:- The account has linked resources, clouds, organizations, DataSphere communities, or SpeechSense spaces left.
- You still have resources purchased under the CVoS.
- You have not disabled the paid Technical support service plan.
- Your billing account has a partner status or you are a partner's customer.
- Payment settlements for the provided services are still pending.
If you cannot fix the issue preventing the deletion of your account yourself, contact
our technical support. -
As soon as all the conditions are met, you billing account becomes inactive and can no longer be used to work with Yandex Cloud resources. To delete your inactive account, write us at cloud@support.yandex.ru.
To recover money you are not going to spend on Yandex Cloud services, contact
Warning
After you delete your billing account, you cannot recover it, and your agreement with Yandex.Cloud LLC, Cloud Services Kazakhstan LLP, Iron Hive doo Beograd (Serbia), or Direct Cursus Technology LLC. (Dubai) will be terminated.
Please note that this operation cannot be undone.
