Cloud Interconnect terminology

- CIC: Abbreviated name for Yandex Cloud Interconnect.
- POPs: Points of presence, i.e., commercial communication hubs hosting third-party network equipment, including the Yandex Cloud equipment.
- Cross-connect (XC): Connection routed by two optical fibers at a point of presence to connect the physical port of the client's or telecom provider's equipment to the physical port of the Yandex Cloud equipment.
- Transceiver: Optical module installed on the client equipment port and Yandex Cloud equipment port. Cross connections are connected to transceivers.
- Telecom provider: Telecommunication service provider that has its own equipment at a point of presence. Generally speaking, connecting to the Yandex Cloud equipment via a telecom provider requires a cross-connect to be set up.
- CIC partner: Telecom provider that delivers extended options to connect to the Yandex Cloud equipment. The partner provides the customer with a
partner trunk
. This saves time and operational costs for the customer compared to setting up a direct trunk. - Trunk: Physical connection at a point of presence between the Yandex Cloud equipment and the client or telecom provider equipment.
- Private connection: Logical connection to the client cloud network.
- Public connection: Logical connection to Yandex Cloud services.
- Routing: Various tools for traffic management within private connections.

: Yandex Cloud technical support team that handles customer requests.
