Cloud Interconnect terminology

- CIC: Abbreviated name for Yandex Cloud Interconnect.
- PoPs: Points of presence, i.e., commercial communication hubs hosting third-party network equipment from various providers, includingYandex Cloud.
- Cross-connect (XC): Connection routed by two optical fibers at a point of presence to connect the physical port of the customer or telecom provider equipment to the physical port of the Yandex Cloud equipment.
- Transceiver: Optical module installed on the customer and Yandex Cloud equipment ports. It provides termination for the optical fibers of the cross-connect.
- Telecom provider: Telecommunication service provider that has its own equipment at a point of presence. Typically, to connect to Yandex Cloud equipment via a telecom provider, you need a cross-connect.
- CIC partner: Telecom provider that delivers enhanced options for connecting to Yandex Cloud equipment. The partner provides the customer with a
partner trunk, which is quicker and less costly for the customer to set up than a direct connection. - Trunk: Physical connection at a point of presence between the Yandex Cloud equipment and the customer or telecom provider equipment.
- Private connection: Logical connection to the customer cloud network.
- Public connection: Logical connection to Yandex Cloud services.
- Routing: Various tools for traffic management within private connections.
- Support: Yandex Cloud technical support team that handles customer requests.
