Yandex Cloud Backup pricing policy

Currency of Service rates (prices) depends on the company you made a contract with:
- Prices in US dollars are applicable to customers of Iron Hive doo Beograd (Serbia) or Direct Cursus Technology L.L.C. (Dubai).
- Prices in Russian roubles are applicable to customers of Yandex.Cloud LLC.
All prices in RUB and KZT are inclusive of VAT; in USD, net of VAT.
What goes into the cost of using Cloud Backup
The cost of Cloud Backup depends on the number of target resource units, i.e., VMs and servers, and the total storage space used for their backups.
Resource unit backup
In Cloud Backup, you start paying for a resource as soon as you link it to a backup policy. Regardless of the resource status, you will be charged for the resource until you unlink it from the policy.
If you delete a VM in Yandex Compute Cloud using the management console, the system automatically unlinks such a VM from all policies. If you delete a VM using the CLI, Terraform, or API, you will have to manually unlink it from policies.
If you need to unlink a BareMetal server or an external resource from a policy, you will still have to do it on your own.
The minimum billing unit is one resource unit per hour.
Using the storage
You pay for the total storage space consumed by backups.
The minimum billing unit is 1 hour of storing 1 MB of data.
In all calculations: 1 GB = 230 bytes, 1 MB = 220 bytes.
If a backed up resource unit is stopped or deleted, Cloud Backup continues to store its backups, and you continue to pay based on their size. Such backup size depends on the following:
- Used disk space of the resource to back up.
- Amount of data changes during regular backups.
- Data compression option.
Note
To optimize your costs, consider removing the backups of the deleted resources you stopped renting.
It is equally likely that backups may be smaller in size than the resource unit's actual disk, e.g., if the disk has a lot of unused space and the data is well compressed, or exceed its size, e.g., when there are many backups and their data is constantly modified and poorly compressed.

Cost calculation example
Let’s calculate the cost of Cloud Backup for one month for the following configuration:
- One VM is linked to backup policies.
- Total size of backups is 50 GB.
1 VM × $2.301638976 + 50 GB × $0.040721305 = $4.337704226
Total: $4.337704226, cost of using Cloud Backup to back up one VM with a total of 50 GB of backups per month, without VAT.
Where:
- 1: Number of VMs linked to backup policies.
- $2.301638976: Price of connecting one VM to Cloud Backup per month, without VAT.
- 50 GB: Total size of backups.
- $0.040721305: Price of storing 1 GB of backups per month, without VAT.
