CDN providers
CDN provider is a content delivery service provider.
Yandex Cloud CDN supports the following content delivery network providers:
- Yandex Cloud CDN based on Yandex own technology. It is used by default.
- EdgeCDN based on the external infrastructure of our partner, EdgeCenter.
Both providers offer the same capabilities and support the same interfaces for resource and CDN origin management: the management console, CLI, Terraform, and API.
Providers have different points of presence (POPs). For more information, see Points of presence.
If you use the EdgeCDN provider, its own limits and restrictions apply.
The metrics providers send to Yandex Monitoring are different:
This means the dashboards in Monitoring will also differ accordingly. For more information, see Viewing CDN resource statistics.
You do not need to activate a provider in your folder.
Warning
When creating each CDN resource and each origin group, they get assigned a specific provider. You cannot change the assigned provider.
