Origin shielding

Origin shielding is a Cloud CDN feature that helps reduce the load on content origins from CDN servers.
If shielding is enabled for a resource, CDN servers request files from an intermediate shielding server rather than from an origin directly. This server deduplicates the requests received: a file requested more than once is downloaded from an origin once and cached.
The shielding servers are located in different geographical locations. Select location ID and name based on your choice of CDN provider:
| Provider | Location ID | Location name |
|---|---|---|
| Yandex Cloud CDN | 1 | Russia / Moscow / msk |
| EdgeCDN | 130 | Russia / Moscow-EC / M9 | M9P |
You can select a suitable location when enabling or configuring shielding.
Origin shielding is a paid function. See Yandex Cloud CDN pricing policy for rates.
