A billing account is required even if your plan is to use only free services. When creating your first billing account linked to your user account, you will get your initial grant.

Create a billing accountCreate a billing account

To create a billing account:

  1. Go to Yandex Cloud Billing.

  2. Log in to your Yandex ID or Yandex 360 account. If you do not have an account yet, sign up and create an organization to work in Yandex Identity Hub. If using your social network profile to log in to Yandex, create a username and password.

  3. To create your first billing account, open the Account tab and click Create an account.

    Note

To create another billing account in addition to those you already have, click at the top of the screen next to the name of your existing billing account.

    In the window that opens:

    1. In the Template name field, enter a name for the billing account. The name will be displayed in the list of your billing accounts and will help you select the right one.

    2. In the Organization field, select the organization to create a billing account for.

    3. In the Country field, select the country the payer is a resident of.

Within a single user account, all payers must pay in the same currency.

    4. In the Account type field, select Individual and click Next.

    5. On the Personal data page, enter your last name and first name and click Next.

    6. Optionally, on the Payment details page, link your bank card to the new billing account:

      • Click Add card.
      • Specify your card details: 16-digit number, expiration date, and CVV (you can find it on the back side of your card).
      • Click Link.

If the user account already has bank cards linked to it, you can select one of them without adding a new one.

      We accept Visa, and MasterCard.

      • Residents of Russia make payments in RUB and can only use bank cards issued by Russian banks.
      • Residents of Kazakhstan make payments in KZT and can only use bank cards issued by non-Russian banks.
      • Non-residents of Russia and Kazakhstan make payments in USD and can only use credit or debit cards issued by non-Russian banks.

To make sure your bank card is valid, we will hold a small amount on your account. This amount will not be charged and will become available once the verification is complete. The amount of time required to release the funds held depends on your bank.

Your account will be created as a paid one: after you have used up your initial grant, your card will be debited for the Yandex Cloud resources you are using.

Once you are done adding your bank card, click Next.

      Warning

You may skip adding a card in the billing account creation form as this step is optional. However, in this case, you will not be eligible for the initial grant, even if you add a card later. You will be able to work with paid resources in the cloud only after you top up your personal account.

    7. On the Contacts page, provide your current email address and phone number. These contact details are not just for communication with you but also for payment invoices and reporting documents. If your contact details are already filled in, check if they are up to date.

    8. Click Create.

      Warning

Note that for individuals an established verification procedure applies, which may result in the account activation being declined.

Why do I need a billing account with a linked bank card? Why do I need a billing account with a linked bank card?

Billing accounts are used to identify users paying for Yandex Cloud resources. Even if you plan to use only free services, you still need a billing account: this is how you get your grants and promo codes.

To activate a billing account, we ask you to link a bank card to make sure you are a human, not a robot. As soon as you link a card, a small amount will be debited from it and promptly returned. That is how we verify that your card is real.
