Single-node file server

Written by

Updated at February 27, 2025

In this tutorial, you will create a single-node NFS file server using the Samba software suite and the Yandex Virtual Private Cloud network infrastructure. The server will run on a VM under Ubuntu. You will be able to connect to it from Linux, macOS, and Windows computers.

You can create a single-node file server infrastructure with one of these tools:

  • Management console: Create your infrastructure step by step in the Yandex Cloud management console.
  • Terraform: Streamline creating and managing your resources with the infrastructure as code (IaC) approach. Download a Terraform configuration example and deploy your infrastructure using the Yandex Cloud Terraform provider.
